There are so many different types of makeup with many different effects. However, things can get a little complicated for glasses-wearers. Sometimes it feels like all our hard work is for nothing because the glasses hide it, which is why we’re here to give you some ideas for making your makeup work with your glasses!
From neutrals to highlighters and bright lip colors, there are many different approaches you can take with your makeup when you want it to look good with your glasses.
People with strong prescriptions know the woes of looking bug-eyed or mole-eyed, but makeup can help with that too! If your lenses make your eyes look too big for your face, you can reduce the effect by using matte and liquid eyeshadows. Powders and glittery eyeshadow tend to make eyes look larger, so steer clear of those!
For those with lenses that make their eyes look too small, you want to do the opposite. Avoid dark eyeshadows and go easy on the eyeliner, because these will make your eyes look even smaller. Instead, use lighter colors of eyeshadow. Mascara will also have an enlarging effect, as will lighter eyeliners.
Like your prescription, your frames will impact which makeup options are best for you. Frameless glasses make it easier to pull off heavier eye makeup, while dark frames lend themselves better to more neutral makeup. Play around with different combinations until you find what works best for you.
Size is also a factor. If the frames are on the bigger side, there is more room to experiment because more of the eye will show. Smaller frames, on the other hand, give you an opportunity to use eyebrow makeup so that the eye area as a whole really pops!
If these makeup tricks aren’t helping you achieve the look you want, then maybe it’s time to change up those frames! Stop by our practice and we’ll help you find the frames that are the perfect fit for your features and your style. We can’t wait to see you rocking your new frames!
