Dr. Erica Burton attended the Optometric Leadership Summit in St. Louis this summer, getting an early look at both newly released eye treatments and those anticipated to receive FDA approval. She also trained on a new scleral contact lens design to treat keratoconus, dry eye, and corneal irregularities affecting vision.
Her volunteer leadership roles include serving as the elected treasurer of the Missouri Optometric Association and chair of its meeting committee and annual convention, which attracts more than 500 attendees; vice president of Practice Management Associates, a network of progressive eye care practices collaborating to improve patient care; and participation in two national optometry study groups.
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Burton serves on several community boards supporting ministry, athletics, and addiction recovery. She is also a proud member of the Chambers of Commerce for Barton County, Vernon County, and Webb City.

On a personal note, Dr. Mayfield's compassionate personality extended to the kitten she adopted this summer, after he showed up at her house.
