Vision Solutions Celebrates Dr. Erica Burton’s New Leadership Role and 30 Years in Optometry!

We’re proud to announce that Dr. Erica Burton, owner and principal optometrist of Vision Solutions, has been elected to serve as President of the Board of Directors for the Missouri Optometric Association (MOA). She was installed as President at the association's annual convention held in St. Charles. The honor comes in a milestone year for Dr. Burton, who is also celebrating 30 years in optometry.

A Voice for Optometry Across Missouri

Founded in 1901, the Missouri Optometric Association represents more than 500 optometrists statewide. Its mission is to advance the profession of optometry by advocating for and educating its members, and to protect access to the highest quality eye and vision care for every Missouri resident.

As President, Dr. Burton will help lead the association’s work toward its core goals:

  • Representing the optometric profession to government, third parties and the public
  • Promoting continued optometric education
  • Helping members run successful practices built on high standards of patient care and efficiency
  • Improving the quality, availability and accessibility of eye and vision care
  •

The MOA is an affiliate of the American Optometric Association (AOA), and the two organizations share a common aim: advancing the profession so that patients benefit from the best care possible. In her new role, Dr. Burton will be part of that statewide and national effort.

Three Decades of Dedicated Care

Thirty years ago, Dr. Burton chose to follow in the footsteps of her father, Dr. Gerald Swearingen, and dedicate her career to helping others through optometry. Since then, she has cared for countless patients and built Vision Solutions into a three-location, four-doctor practice providing trusted, comprehensive medical and family eye care in Lamar, Nevada and Webb City. Throughout, she has remained committed to the growth of her profession through her active membership and committee leadership within the MOA. Her election as President by her peers reflects the respect she has earned over three decades of service.

“It’s an honor to follow a long line of MOA presidents who have selflessly served our profession and Missourians,” said Dr. Burton. “Over the past three decades, eye care has grown more complex, from new technologies and insurance challenges to its recognition as an essential part of overall wellness. We must ensure all Missourians, including those in rural and underserved areas, have access to quality vision care through a local optometrist—not just eyeglass stores and online marketplaces that can’t provide the comprehensive care that protecting vision and supporting healthy aging require. As a steward of our state association, my priority is that optometry continues to evolve to meet the needs of our patients.”

Dr. Burton’s leadership keeps patients of Vision Solutions closely connected to the latest developments in eye care, education and policy affecting Missouri residents. While she takes on this new role, her commitment to you stays the same—personal, high-quality care for you and your family.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Burton on her election and on 30 remarkable years in optometry!
